The Federation of Law Societies of Canada (the “Federation”) is the national coordinating body of the 14 law societies that regulate Canada’s 125,000 lawyers, Quebec’s 3,800 notaries and Ontario’s nearly 10,500 licensed paralegals in the public interest. The Federation promotes the development of national standards, encourages the harmonization of law society rules and procedures, undertakes national initiatives, and speaks out on matters of national importance, all as directed by its member law societies.

The Federation is hiring a Deputy Director for the National Committee on Accreditation (the “NCA”). The Deputy Director will play a key role in the operation of the NCA, the regulators’ foreign credential recognition program. Duties include credential evaluation, research on legal education and licensure systems in other jurisdictions, and file audits. The Deputy Director will also be responsible for managing various projects related to the NCA Assessment Modernization initiative.

Candidates must have a law degree and preferably be licensed as a lawyer in Canada. Consideration will be given to applicants with other qualifications who have strong relevant training and/or experience. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience in related positions and demonstrated experience or training in project management. Experience in a professional regulatory or association environment would be desirable. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, have excellent organizational and time management, and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team. Proficiency in French is an asset.
