About Owen Bird

Owen Bird Law Corporation is a downtown, full-service, mid-sized law firm committed to providing exceptional service and outstanding results for our clients.

Our clients are entrepreneurs and to serve our clients well Owen Bird has recruited bright, energetic, motivated lawyers. We close deals, win cases and get the job done. Our lawyers each take a hands-on approach to their respective practices to provide clients with the most efficient results.

We strive for excellence in our practice but attempt to do so in an environment that is informal and collegial. We believe that there is more to life than the practice of law, and all lawyers, students and support staff are encouraged to live balanced lives.

Owen Bird is the only British Columbia member of Interlaw, an international network of full service law firms in more than 120 cities worldwide.

Due to high work volume, we are currently looking for a Intermediate/Senior Solicitor to provide assistance to a number of lawyers on M&A, real estate, and general corporate/commercial files. This would be a great opportunity for a well-rounded, self-motivated individual who possesses sound judgment, solid work ethic and good interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will be a 5 to 9 year call who has previous experience in a general solicitor's practice. Experience drafting and reviewing closing documents for commercial transactions and/or corporate reorganizations is required.  Experience in commercial leasing, real estate, banking/financing, and wills and estates also an asset, but not all of these are required. The candidate should however have a breadth of experience in solicitor practice areas.

Compensation is to be negotiated with the successful candidate, and will be competitive with other full-service, mid-sized law firms. We will provide office space and the administrative support available to our lawyers. We reward results and efficiency through our remuneration system. Associates in their third year of practice and beyond have the option of participating in an incentive system which gives them an opportunity to earn more than their contemporaries elsewhere.

Our shareholder/associate ratio is roughly 2:1 and may appear high. It reflects our belief that associates should be invited to join the corporation once they have demonstrated sound judgment and attained a requisite level of expertise and skill. Owen Bird has an active Associates/Articling Committee and it is their responsibility to represent the interests of associates and students and to set up and monitor the training and mentoring of associates and students.
