The College of Patent and Trademark Agents of Canada (the College) was created by the Government of Canada with a mandate to be the professional independent public interest regulator of Canada’s 2150 Patent and Trademark Agents. Patents and Trademarks are key tools in protecting the intellectual property rights of citizens and corporations in Canada and around the world - they are key to maintaining and developing innovation in Canada’s economy. The College is expected to be up and functioning by mid-2021.
This newly created organization is recruiting a bilingual Operations Manager responsible for all systems used by the College including Thentia’s Open Regulate, Office 365, video platforms, examination platforms and others used by the College as it operates without a physical office. Ensuring efficient access by registrants to maintain up to date information is a vital aspect of this position. The Manager ensures the integrity of licensee information retrieved and extracted from all sources and has primary responsibility for IT infrastructure and the Open Regulate application. The incumbent participates in all projects regarding College information and develops and recommends operating policies and procedures especially relating to the analysis of data and its use to assist in risk-based regulation.
As the ideal candidate, you have 3 to 5 years’ experience managing data systems. This position primarily focuses on information management and technology innovation within the organization and requires a keen awareness of emerging applications to support the goals and objectives of the College. Your success will be contingent on the following essential qualities and skills: knowledge and experience with programming languages, particularly SQL scripting and report writing, data analysis, an exceptional licensee service focus, an exceptional analytical and investigative skills with strong attention to detail, a high level of judgment, a strong initiative and the ability to work minimum supervision as you are going to work remotely. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both official languages and the ability to communicate complex information to a non-technical audience is required.
